Recycled ocean plastic upholstery fabric is redefining sustainable design, and Camira is leading the way with high-performance textiles made for commercial interiors.

What is Recycled Ocean Plastic Upholstery Fabric?

Camira and the SEAQUAL Initiative®

Oceanic is developed in partnership with the SEAQUAL Initiative®. It uses 100% post-consumer recycled polyester, including ocean-bound and marine plastic waste. These materials come from debris collected from oceans and plastic bottles diverted from landfill. Oceanic turns waste into a refined, high-quality textile.

How SEAQUAL® Yarn is Made

Camira sources plastic waste and transforms it into SEAQUAL® Yarn, which forms the base of Oceanic fabric.

Reducing Ocean Plastic: The Impact of Oceanic

Each year, 14 million tonnes of plastic enter the ocean. Without urgent action, plastic could outweigh fish by 2025. Oceanic addresses this challenge directly. Each metre uses SEAQUAL® Yarn made from the equivalent of 35 plastic bottles. By converting waste into usable fabric, Camira supports the global fight against ocean pollution.

Plastic Pollution in Oceans

Oceanic actively reduces plastic waste while offering a high-quality material for commercial interiors.

Design and Performance of Oceanic Fabric

Camira weaves Oceanic in a durable twill structure. Specialist dyeing techniques create its distinctive dual-tone aesthetic. The fabric has a matt appearance, substantial handle, and strong performance credentials. These qualities make it ideal for upholstery and acoustic applications in commercial and hospitality spaces.

Neutral shades suit flexible interiors. Aquatic tones such as ocean blues, sea greens, and coral shades add depth and character.

Expanded Palette and Colour Inspiration

Oceanic now comes in 27 considered shades. The colours reflect the natural hues of shorelines and marine habitats. This range gives designers freedom to respond to modern interior demands. Lighter shades provide versatility. Darker, aquatic-inspired tones create a refined atmosphere.

Inspired by Shorelines and Marine Habitats

The palette celebrates nature while offering practical design options for commercial interiors.
